Karachi: Leaders of the business community within Karachi, including BMG and KCCI, expressed their concerns over the damage caused to the city’s infrastructure after the recent rains and reported a news source.
BMG Chairman Zubair Motiwala expressed his distaste for the current condition of the commercial capital of Pakistan. He stated that despite contributing 54 percent of the country’s exports, 65 percent to the national exchequer, and 95 percent to the provincial taxes and levies was currently in a state of peril.
Added to that, comparisons were made by the BMG Chairman between the rainfall received by Karachi with Kolkata or Mumbai. This revealed that despite the city receiving comparatively lower amounts of rainfall, the destruction in the city was enormous.
The ministers were urged to take action against the dilapidated conditions of the city and to restore the infrastructure of Karachi. Medium and long-term measures were also asked to be prepared for the city for the next monsoon season.
