Islamabad: The biggest judicial institution of the country Supreme Court has ordered the civic agencies to continue their ongoing operation against encroachments on the state-owned land in the metropolis. The highest court was hearing a petition on the unlawful construction on a property in Lyari, Karachi.
The hearing was conducted by a three-member bench and it was made clear that it is the responsibility of the civic agencies to bring the city back to its original form. The court also pointed towards the fact that the shopping centers and restaurants are still operating on these plots and there is no space for the pedestrians to move around on the streets.
During the proceedings, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) requested for eight weeks for the operation. Granting the time to the SBCA, the court adjourned the proceedings.
