Agricultural Land Banned for Housing Societies

A statement released by the Minster discussed that the acquisition of agricultural land by residential societies needed to be stopped since it was leading up to food shortages and an increase in environmental pollution. Both of these issues will become harder to control within a few years.

He also said that acquiring agricultural land and turning it into a residential society will have a negative effect on the agricultural economy and the environment as well. The shortages of important staple crops might also occur such as wheat, rice as well as cotton.

Shortage of water within, Sindh caused by the recent heat wave meant had also negatively affected the production of important crops. It was observed that most of the residential societies on agricultural lands were made without the completion of the legal requirements.

Strict action will be taken against anyone illegally cultivating fertile lands in urban or rural areas for the development of residential colonies by the government.

کراچی: سندھ کے وزیر ماحولیات اسماعیل راہو نے زرعی اراضی کی تیزی سے کمی سے متعلق اپنے تحفظات کا اظہار کیا، اور کسی بھی زرعی اراضی کو حاصل کرنے والی ہاؤسنگ سوسائٹیوں پر پابندی عائد کردی۔
منسٹر کی طرف سے جاری کردہ ایک بیان میں اس بات پر تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا کہ رہائشی سوسائٹیوں کے ذریعے زرعی اراضی کے حصول کو روکنے کی ضرورت ہے کیونکہ اس سے خوراک کی قلت اور ماحولیاتی آلودگی میں اضافہ ہو رہا ہے۔ ان دونوں مسائل پر چند سالوں میں قابو پانا مشکل ہو جائے گا۔
انہوں نے یہ بھی کہا کہ زرعی زمین حاصل کرنے اور اسے رہائشی سوسائٹی میں تبدیل کرنے سے زرعی معیشت اور ماحولیات پر بھی منفی اثرات مرتب ہوں گے۔ اہم فصلوں کی قلت بھی ہو سکتی ہے جیسے گندم، چاول کے ساتھ ساتھ کپاس۔
حالیہ گرمی کی لہر کی وجہ سے سندھ میں پانی کی کمی نے اہم فصلوں کی پیداوار کو بھی منفی طور پر متاثر کیا ہے۔ مشاہدے میں آیا کہ زرعی زمینوں پر زیادہ تر رہائشی سوسائٹیاں قانونی تقاضے پورے کیے بغیر بنائی گئیں۔
حکومت کی جانب سے رہائشی کالونیوں کی ترقی کے لیے شہری یا دیہی علاقوں میں غیر قانونی طور پر زرخیز زمینوں پر کاشت کاری کرنے والے کے خلاف سخت کارروائی کی جائے گی۔
