51 illegally established fuel stations sealed in Sindh

The information to this effect was passed on to the participants of a meeting of the provincial Anti-Smuggling Task Force on Thursday with Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah in the chair.

Attending the meeting, Customs officials identified 15 smuggled goods that were being illegally brought from Iran, Afghanistan, and India and being locally sold in different cities of Pakistan. These included Gutka, betel nuts, tires, cigarettes, electronic items, automobile spare parts, and cosmetics.

The Sindh police and Rangers in the financial year 2020-21 conducted 1,279 raids in the province and seized smuggled goods worth Rs 8,314 million, the meeting was told. The chief secretary said there was a need to increase operations of law-enforcement agencies against smuggling, and, for this purpose, an awareness campaign should be conducted both on mainstream and social media to make people fully aware of the menace of smuggling.

He asked Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Qazi Shahid Pervez to form a WhatsApp group comprising the focal persons of all the anti-smuggling organizations for better coordination for such operations.

He said that intelligence-based operations should be conducted by the LEAs concerned to firmly take action against the menace of smuggling.

اجلاس میں شرکت کرتے ہوئے کسٹم حکام نے 15 سمگل شدہ سامان کی نشاندہی کی جو غیر قانونی طور پر ایران ، افغانستان اور بھارت سے لائی جا رہی تھیں اور پاکستان کے مختلف شہروں میں مقامی طور پر فروخت کی جا رہی تھیں۔ ان میں گٹکا ، سوپاری ، ٹائر ، سگریٹ ، الیکٹرانک اشیاء ، آٹوموبائل کے پرزے اور کاسمیٹکس شامل تھے۔

اجلاس کو بتایا گیا کہ مالی سال 2020-21 میں سندھ پولیس اور رینجرز نے صوبے میں 1،279 چھاپے مارے اور 8314 ملین روپے مالیت کا اسمگل شدہ سامان ضبط کیا۔ چیف سیکریٹری نے کہا کہ سمگلنگ کے خلاف قانون نافذ کرنے والے اداروں کی کاروائیوں کو بڑھانے کی ضرورت ہے اور اس مقصد کے لیے مین اسٹریم اور سوشل میڈیا دونوں پر آگاہی مہم چلائی جائے تاکہ لوگوں کو اسمگلنگ کی لعنت سے مکمل طور پر آگاہ کیا جا سکے۔

انہوں نے ایڈیشنل چیف سیکرٹری داخلہ محکمہ قاضی شاہد پرویز سے کہا کہ وہ سمگلنگ کے خلاف تمام تنظیموں کے فوکل پرسنز پر مشتمل ایک واٹس ایپ گروپ بنائیں تاکہ اس طرح کی کارروائیوں کے لیے بہتر رابطہ قائم کیا جا سکے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ اسمگلنگ کی لعنت کے خلاف مضبوطی سے کارروائی کرنے کے لیے متعلقہ ایل ای اے کی جانب سے انٹیلی جنس پر مبنی آپریشن کیے جائیں۔
