48% increase in cement imports, 24% decline in sales: All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) reports

According to the report, total cement sales in March 2023 were 3.795 million tons, down from 5 million tons in March 2022.

The north-base cement factories sold 2.82 million tons of cement in March 2023, a decrease of 28.22% year over year (YoY). When compared to the same month last year, the North and South-based cement mills in the local market saw declines of 29.33% and 26.14%, respectively.

According to the research, exports from mills in the North increased by 24.63%, and those from mills in the South increased by 57.40% in March 2023 compared to March 2022. APCMA's spokeswoman attributed the sales decline to the slowdown in construction in the northern and southern areas. He claimed that the construction and related businesses are being impacted by the economic unrest.
