Getting ready for a trip to another country often starts with an important step – getting a passport. In Pakistan, applying for a passport is like a well-organized plan with different steps. These steps ensure everything is correct, safe, and quick. This guide is here to help you understand each step easily and make applying for a passport in Pakistan simple.
Here are the simple instructions you should follow when you visit your nearby regional or executive passport offices in Pakistan.
Step 1: Arrival at the Customer Service Counter
The journey starts at the Regional Passport Office (RPO), where applicants approach the customer service counter. Here, friendly officials guide them through the intricacies of the application process and direct them to the token counter.
Step 2: Fee Verification + Capturing of Photograph + Token Issuance
Having arrived at the token counter, applicants must present their original CNIC/Smart-Card/NICOP or Children Registration Certificate (CRC)/B-Form, along with necessary copies. After verification of the fee payment, officials capture the applicant's photograph and issue a token for further processing.
Step 3: Biometric Data Capture
Proceeding to the biometric counter, applicants undergo fingerprint capture. This biometric data is vital in enhancing security measures and ensuring the passport holder's identity.
Step 4: Data Entry
At the data entry counters, officials input all the necessary information. Importantly, applicants have the opportunity to verify the accuracy of the details they enter. Any required modifications should be communicated promptly, as changes become challenging once the data is saved.
Step 5: Verification as per Office Record (ECL/BL)
The applicant moves to the ECL/BL desk for verification against the Exit Control List (ECL) and Black List (BL). Clearance is granted by affixing a stamp to the data form, but individuals on ECL or BL will need to resolve their status before proceeding.
Step 6: Interview & Decision by Assistant Director
The critical phase involves interviewing by the Assistant Director or Officer in charge. This official assesses the applicant's national status and credibility. Additional documents may be requested; in some cases, the application might be referred to a security agency for further investigation.
Step 7: Passport Delivery (Collection of Passport)
After successfully passing the previous stages, applicants can collect their passports from the Passport Delivery counter. The passport is handed over to the applicant in person or to a blood relative with the proper authorization.
