How to Clean Tough Grease from your most-common Kitchen Surfaces

Grease – one of the major elements that contribute to deteriorating the quality and look of your kitchen. Worry not, however, because your kitchen isn’t the only victim of this ailment, almost every happy house is affected by it. However, happier houses tend to counter this problem every once in a while, to prevent it from affecting their kitchen in the long term.

Don’t fret, because the cleaning doesn’t require any special high-grade chemicals either. This is because all you need is a tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar paired up with baking soda to remove most of the grease and the stains they leave behind.

Dissolving Grease using Apple Cider or White Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is a commonly available condiment in every household, which is known for its health benefits and is perfect for removing grease from any surface.

White Vinegar is another condiment commonly available within the kitchen you can utilize to clear off the grease.

Since both of these options works perfectly fine, you can just grab whichever one is easily accessible/available for you.

What You Will Need

  • Apple-Cider Vinegar/White Vinegar
  • Warm Water
  • Clean Spray Bottle
  • Soft Cloth
  • Dishwashing Liquid (for tougher stains)

The process

  1. Fill a spray bottle with one part vinegar and one part water. Shake well to ensure both the liquids have mixed together.
  2. Spray the affected areas such as your countertops and kitchen cabinets, with the mixture and let it sit for a couple of minutes
  3. Wet the cloth in warm water, and rinse it to remove any excess moisture since it could damage the wooden cabinets.
  4. Wipe the cupboards with the cloth to remove the grease stains
  5. If any heavier stains still remain on the cupboard, make a paste of vinegar and salt and scrub them off

Using Dishwashing Liquid to Remove the Cabinet Grease

Dishwashing is available in everyone’s household, and it is quite effective in removing grease and grime from all surfaces. This is the reason why it is the perfect degreaser for your kitchen.

What You Will Need:

  • Dishwashing Soap
  • Warm Water
  • Cleaning Sponge
  • Soft Dry Cloth (Microfiber preferred but cotton works just as fine)

The process

  1. Fill a small bowl with warm water and add a few drops of your preferred dishwashing soap into it
  2. Wet the sponge from the water, and give it a good squeeze to remove the excess water from it
  3. If there are any “tough to remove spots” then place a drop of the dishwashing liquid directly on the sponge and scrub them away
  4. Once you’re done, use the cloth to wipe all the surfaces in a circular motion to remove any soap residue

Use Baking Soda and Lemon to Remove the Grease

Baking soda and lemon are the most distinguished condiments used as natural cleaning products. For the stubborn layers of grease in the kitchen, this pair can work wonders. In the end, your appliances will be looking good as new.

What You Will Need

  • Soft Sponge
  • Baking Soda
  • Warm Water
  • Lemon Juice
  • Spray Bottle

The Process

  1. Create a solution using one part baking soda, and two parts warm water and lemon juice
  2. Add the solution into a spray bottle and spray the liquid onto the various kitchen surfaces
  3. Let it sit for a few minutes and use a sponge to scrub off any tougher grease stains
  4. Clean up the cabinets by wiping them using a cloth

Preventing the Buildup of Grease

Now that your kitchen looks good as new it is important to look back and prevent an intense amount of grease up again.

  • It is recommended to always have a degreaser spray by your side so that you can just wipe off the grease stains you spot every other week. Make sure to use a soft cloth to wipe off the cabinets after you have removed the stains
  • Remember to wash your hands regularly when cooking, this can help stop the transfer of the grease from one spot to the other in the kitchen.
