Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (MET) issued a new heatwave alert for Karachi that is going to last for three days.
The heatwave will strike Karachi amid suspension of sea breeze due to Tropical Cyclone Vayu from June 13, 2019 and will end on June 15, 2019. During the latest media advisory, the MET office explained that due to suspension of the sea breeze in the city, the heatwave will strike Karachi and the temperature is likely to range from 40o C to 42o C where the real feel can exceed 50o.
The three-day weather forecast for Karachi is as follows:
On Thursday, June 13, 2019 the weather is expected to remain very hot and humid all day long, with maximum temperature ranging from 40o C to 42o C and the minimum temperature (most likely at night) can go till 29.5o C. The humidity level in the morning would be 60 to 70% whereas the humidity level in the evening can reduce to 30 to 40%. The blowing wind direction is predicted to be easterly and southeasterly side.
On Friday, June 14, 2019 the weather is expected to remain very hot and humid all day long, with maximum temperature ranging from 41o C to 43o C and the minimum temperature (most likely at night) can go till 28o C to 30o C. The humidity level in the morning would be 60 to 70% whereas the humidity level in the evening can reduce to 30 to 40%. The blowing wind direction is predicted to be easterly and southeasterly side.
On Saturday, June 15, 2019 the weather is expected to remain hot and humid all day long, with maximum temperature ranging from 39o C to 41o C and the minimum temperature (most likely at night) can go till 28o C to 30o C. The humidity level in the morning would be 70 to 80% whereas the humidity level in the evening can slightly reduce to 50 to 60%. The blowing wind direction is predicted to be westerly and southeasterly side.
Sardar Sarfaraz from MET Office further added that Tropical Cyclone Vayu has intensified into a serious cyclonic storm that will bring heatwave in Karachi city, whereas the rest of the cities can get rain and thunderstorm. There is no chance of precipitation i.e. rain in Karachi. It is recommended that people stay in their houses and keep themselves hydrated as much as they can.
