Tepa to restructure Bhatta Chowk for smooth traffic

According to the news sources, this decision was taken place in a meeting held at the office of LDA's sub-agency Tepa under the chairmanship of Tepa Chief Engineer Abdul Razzaq Chauhan. The meeting was attended by representatives of over 20 government departments. The meeting was called to discuss measures for the prevention of smog and resolving traffic problems in the city.

On the occasion, Abdul Razzaq said Tepa was making efforts to prevent smog and solve traffic problems in the direction of the High Court. He said tree planting was necessary to eliminate smog.

According to the news sources, to ensure smooth traffic, the agency also decided to redesign Bhatta Chowk, he said and added that Tepa will support plantings on the roofs of commercial buildings. All the agencies concerned will also extend their full support regarding plantations on the roofs of the buildings.

During the meeting, Abdul Razzaq Chauhan said, he would give suggestions to the traffic police for redesigning the roads. Redesigning and remodeling roads would help in eliminating traffic jams, which were one of the major reasons for increased air pollution.

The chief engineer said further added that awareness was being created among the citizens about traffic rules throughout the City.

لاہور: ٹریفک کی روانی کو یقینی بنانے کے لیے ٹریفک انجینئرنگ اینڈ پلاننگ ایجنسی (ٹیپا) نے بھٹہ چوک کو نئے سرے سے ڈیزائن کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے۔
نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق یہ فیصلہ ٹیپا کے چیف انجینئر عبدالرزاق چوہان کی زیر صدارت ایل ڈی اے کی ذیلی ایجنسی ٹیپا کے دفتر میں ہونے والے اجلاس میں کیا گیا۔ اجلاس میں 20 سے زائد سرکاری محکموں کے نمائندوں نے شرکت کی۔ اجلاس شہر میں سموگ کی روک تھام اور ٹریفک کے مسائل کے حل کے لیے اقدامات پر غور کے لیے بلایا گیا تھا۔
اس موقع پر عبدالرزاق نے کہا کہ ٹیپا ہائی کورٹ کی ہدایت پر سموگ کی روک تھام اور ٹریفک کے مسائل کے حل کے لیے کوششیں کر رہا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ سموگ کے خاتمے کے لیے درخت لگانا ضروری ہے۔
خبر رساں ذرائع کے مطابق ٹریفک کی روانی کو یقینی بنانے کے لیے ایجنسی نے بھٹہ چوک کو نئے سرے سے ڈیزائن کرنے کا فیصلہ بھی کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ٹیپا کمرشل عمارتوں کی چھتوں پر شجرکاری کی حمایت کرے گی۔ تمام متعلقہ ادارے عمارتوں کی چھتوں پر شجرکاری کے حوالے سے بھی بھرپور تعاون کریں گے۔
ملاقات کے دوران عبدالرزاق چوہان نے کہا کہ وہ ٹریفک پولیس کو سڑکوں کی ری ڈیزائننگ کے لیے تجاویز دیں گے۔ سڑکوں کو نئے سرے سے ڈیزائن کرنے اور دوبارہ بنانے سے ٹریفک جام کو ختم کرنے میں مدد ملے گی، جو فضائی آلودگی میں اضافے کی ایک بڑی وجہ ہے.
چیف انجینئر نے مزید کہا کہ شہر بھر میں ٹریفک قوانین کے بارے میں شہریوں میں آگاہی پیدا کی جا رہی ہے۔
