Senator asks KP govt to resume work on dams

According to the news sources, the three projected dams including Tank Zam Dam, Chodwan Dam, and Daraban Dam are supposed to be used for power generation purposes and would be a game-changer in terms of bringing about a green revolution in the much-neglected southern region, which face severe water shortage.

According to the details, the dams, if built-in time, would not only ensure food security for the whole of KP, including Tank and DI Khan but also former Fata, besides effectively controlling the seasonal flooding that causes chaos every year apart from, generating viable socio-economic chances for the deprived people.

According to the news sources, he said the work on the Khurram Tangi Dam may also be expedited to bring about barren lands of Lakki Marwat, Pezu, and parts of Bannu and Karak under cultivation.

He further added that it is expected that this dam generates more than 75 megawatts of electricity. He also stressed the need to construct small dams in the water scarcity-hit district of Karak on the perennial and seasonal nullahs with the view to effectively tackle the water issue for irrigation and drinking water, and helping in improving the water table, which is heading towards catastrophic low levels.

According to the details, Senator Dost Muhammed Mehsud appreciated the leadership of Chief Minister Mahmud Khan who was paying attention towards the underdeveloped areas of the KP, especially the Southern region and parts of ex-Fata.

خبر رساں ذرائع کے مطابق ٹانک زم ڈیم، چوڑوان ڈیم اور درابن ڈیم سمیت تین پراجیکٹ شدہ ڈیموں کو بجلی کی پیداوار کے مقاصد کے لیے استعمال کیا جانا ہے اور یہ انتہائی نظرانداز کیے گئے جنوبی علاقوں میں سبز انقلاب لانے کے حوالے سے گیم چینجر ثابت ہوں گے۔ جس علاقے کو پانی کی شدید قلت کا سامنا ہے۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق، ڈیم، اگر وقت میں بنائے جائیں تو، نہ صرف پورے کے پی کے بشمول ٹانک اور ڈی آئی خان بلکہ سابق فاٹا کے لیے غذائی تحفظ کو یقینی بنائیں گے، اس کے علاوہ ہر سال افراتفری کا باعث بننے والے موسمی سیلاب کو مؤثر طریقے سے کنٹرول کرنے کے علاوہ، محروم لوگوں کے لیے قابل عمل سماجی و اقتصادی مواقع پیدا کرے گے۔
نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق انہوں نے کہا کہ لکی مروت، پیزو اور بنوں اور کرک کے کچھ علاقوں کی بنجر زمینوں کو زیر کاشت لانے کے لیے خرم تنگی ڈیم پر کام بھی تیز کیا جا سکتا ہے۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ توقع ہے کہ یہ ڈیم 75 میگاواٹ سے زیادہ بجلی پیدا کرے گا۔ انہوں نے پانی کی قلت کے شکار ضلع کرک میں بارہماسی اور موسمی نالوں پر چھوٹے ڈیموں کی تعمیر کی ضرورت پر بھی زور دیا تاکہ آبپاشی اور پینے کے پانی کے لیے پانی کے مسئلے سے مؤثر طریقے سے نمٹا جا سکے اور پانی کی سطح کو بہتر بنانے میں مدد ملے، جو آگے بڑھ رہی ہے۔ تباہ کن نچلی سطح کی طرف۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق سینیٹر دوست محمد محسود نے وزیراعلیٰ محمود خان کی قیادت کو سراہا جو کے پی کے پسماندہ علاقوں بالخصوص جنوبی علاقہ اور سابق فاٹا کے کچھ حصوں پر توجہ دے رہے ہیں۔
