Punjab government aims to plant 50 million saplings during the monsoon

The Punjab government has set a target of planting 50 million saplings during the monsoon tree plantation campaign that would be formally inaugurated in the third week of July and continue till December.

The provincial minister said the Punjab government was taking steps to increase forests in line with the vision of the prime minister. He said that under the “Khidmat Aap Ki Dehliz Per” program, tree planting week was being observed across the province from July 12 to July 18 and as many as 380,000 saplings would be planted during the week.

The chief secretary said that suitable arrangements should be in place to look after a sapling after its plantation. He directed the forest secretary to devise a system for monitoring the growth of plants with the help of modern technology.

He mentioned that planting more and more trees was the need of the hour to control environmental pollution and all departments should take an active part in the tree plantation drive.

Punjab, including 32 million in government forests and 11 million on private lands, had been set for the monsoon tree plantation campaign. He said the “Plant for Pakistan Day” would also be observed in the first week of August and on that occasion, the Forest Department would distribute 384,000 saplings free of cost at the sale points.

پنجاب حکومت نے مون سون کے درختوں کی شجرکاری مہم کے دوران 50 ملین پودے لگانے کا ہدف مقرر کیا ہے جس کا باقاعدہ افتتاح جولائی کے تیسرے ہفتے میں کیا جائے گا اور دسمبر تک جاری رہے گا۔

صوبائی وزیر نے کہا کہ پنجاب حکومت وزیر اعظم کے وژن کے مطابق جنگلات ��یں اضافے کے لئے اقدامات کررہی ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ "خدمت اپ کی دہلیز پر" پروگرام کے تحت ، 12 جولائی سے 18 جولائی تک صوبہ بھر میں درخت لگانے کا ہفتہ منایا جارہا ہے اور ہفتے کے دوران 380،000 پودے لگائے جائیں گے۔

چیف سکریٹری نے کہا کہ پودے لگانے کے بعد کسی پودے کی دیکھ بھال کے لئے مناسب انتظامات کیے جانے چاہئیں۔ انہوں نے سکریٹری جنگلات کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ جدید ٹکنالوجی کی مدد سے پودوں کی نمو کی نگرانی کے لئے ایک نظام وضع کریں۔

انہوں نے بتایا کہ ماحولیاتی آلودگی پر قابو پانے کے لئے زیادہ سے زیادہ درخت لگانا وقت کی ضرورت ہے اور تمام محکموں کو درختوں کی شجرکاری مہم میں بڑھ چڑھ کر حصہ لینا چاہئے۔

مون سون کے درختوں کی شجرکاری مہم کے لئے پنجاب ، سرکاری جنگلات میں 32 ملین اور نجی زمینوں پر 11 ملین شامل ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یوم پاکستان کے پلانٹ کو اگست کے پہلے ہفتے میں بھی منایا جائے گا اور اس موقع پر محکمہ جنگلات فروخت مقامات پر 384000 پودے مفت تقسیم کریں گے۔
