PM asks concerned departments to focus on Karachi development

He asked them to work excellently in their respective constituencies while planning a strong strategy covering every town and district of the province.

The directives from the top came during a meeting held in Islamabad with a delegation of Karachi legislators led by Maritime Affairs Minister Syed Ali Zaidi, who briefed the PM about the status of the Karachi development package and discussed their future strategy for the city in particular and province in general.

The Karachi MNAs included Faheem Khan, retired Captain Jameel Ahmed Khan, Saifur Rehman, Muhammad Alamgir Khan, Attaullah, and Aftab Jehangir.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday held meetings with members of National Assembly and discussed the ongoing legislative process in parliament, political situation in the country and the ongoing development projects in different constituencies,” said a brief statement issued after the meeting.

Minister Zaidi later said that the PM was convinced that despite being short of legal authority and funds, his party MNAs should focus on development in their constituencies.

The PTI MNAs expressed their disappointment on the performance of the Pakistan Peoples Party government in Sindh, he said and added that the legislators were of the view that despite their efforts the failure of the provincial government was a real problem behind increasing sense of deprivation in Sindh.

“We discussed at length different strategies for Sindh,” the federal minister told Dawn. “The PTI has a very strong plan for entire Sindh and let me tell you we will be seen in each and every district of the province in line with the PM’s vision for a prosperous and better Sindh where at present the people are being deprived of basic rights and developments.”

اعلیٰ سطح سے یہ ہدایات اسلام آباد میں وزیر بحری امور سید علی زیدی کی سربراہی میں کراچی کے اراکین اسمبلی کے وفد سے ملاقات کے دوران سامنے آئیں، جس نے وزیر اعظم کو کراچی کے ترقیاتی پیکج کی صورتحال سے آگاہ کیا اور خاص طور پر شہر کے لیے اپنی مستقبل کی حکمت عملی پر تبادلہ خیال کیا۔

کراچی کے ایم این ایز میں فہیم خان، ریٹائرڈ کیپٹن جمیل احمد خان، سیف الرحمان، محمد عالمگیر خان، عطا اللہ اور آفتاب جہانگیر شامل تھے۔

ملاقات کے بعد جاری ہونے والے ایک مختصر بیان میں کہا گیا کہ 'وزیراعظم عمران خان نے بدھ کو اراکین قومی اسمبلی سے ملاقات کی اور پارلیمنٹ میں جاری قانون سازی کے عمل، ملک کی سیاسی صورتحال اور مختلف حلقوں میں جاری ترقیاتی منصوبوں پر تبادلہ خیال کیا۔

وزیر زیدی نے بعد میں کہا کہ وزیر اعظم کو یقین ہے کہ قانونی اختیار اور فنڈز کی کمی کے باوجود ان کی پارٹی کے ایم این ایز کو اپنے حلقوں میں ترقی پر توجہ دینی چاہیے۔

پی ٹی آئی کے ایم این ایز نے سندھ میں پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کی حکومت کی کارکردگی پر مایوسی کا اظہار کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ اراکین اسمبلی کا موقف تھا کہ ان کی کوششوں کے باوجود صوبائی حکومت کی ناکامی سندھ میں احساس محرومی کے بڑھنے کے پیچھے اصل مسئلہ ہے۔ .

وفاقی وزیر نے ڈان کو بتایا کہ "ہم نے سندھ کے لیے مختلف حکمت عملیوں پر طویل گفتگو کی۔"پی ٹی آئی کے پاس پورے سندھ کے لیے بہت مضبوط منصوبہ ہے اور میں آپ کو بتاتا ہوں کہ ہم صوبے کے ہر ضلع میں ایک خوشحال اور بہتر سندھ کے لیے وزیر اعظم کے ویژن کے مطابق نظر آئیں گے جہاں اس وقت عوام بنیادی سہولیات سے محروم ہیں۔ حقوق اور ترقی"
