Murad Ali Shah says work on Red Line to begin next month

According to the news sources, while presiding over a meeting of TransKarachi here at CM House Syed Murad Ali Shah said that “This is good news for the people of Karachi and I am sure the work would be started on war footings so that it could be completed within two and half years.”

The CM was informed that the Karachi BRT Red Line (KBRT) project was being implemented with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and three other co-financiers with a total cost of Rs78.38bn.

According to the details, The Red Line project corridor passes through urban areas of the city, originating from Malir Halt and terminating at Tower via Malir Cantonment, Safoora, Uni­ver­sity Road, and Numiash.

The work on the first lot would be started in the second week of March for which machinery was being mobilized to Malir Halt, the CM was told.

The BRT Red Line is a 25-km corridor that would have a ridership of over 300,000 passengers per day. As per the plan, 240 buses would be procured for the project and their procurement order would be placed by the end of 2023.

نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق یہاں وزیراعلیٰ ہاؤس میں ٹرانسکراچی کے اجلاس کی صدارت کرتے ہوئے سید مراد علی شاہ کا کہنا تھا کہ یہ کراچی والوں کے لیے اچھی خبر ہے اور مجھے یقین ہے کہ کام جنگی بنیادوں پر شروع کردیا جائے گا تاکہ ڈھائی سال میں مکمل کیا جائے گا۔
وزیراعلیٰ کو بتایا گیا کہ کراچی بی آر ٹی ریڈ لائن (کے بی آر ٹی) منصوبہ ایشین ڈویلپمنٹ بینک (اے ڈی بی) اور تین دیگر شریک فنانسرز کے تعاون سے 78.38 ارب روپے کی کل لاگت سے نافذ کیا جا رہا ہے۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق ریڈ لائن پراجیکٹ کوریڈور شہر کے شہری علاقوں سے گزرتا ہے جو ملیر ہالٹ سے نکل کر ملیر کنٹونمنٹ، صفورا، یونیورسٹی روڈ اور نومیش سے ہوتا ہوا ٹاور پر ختم ہوتا ہے۔
وزیراعلیٰ کو بتایا گیا کہ پہلی لاٹ پر کام مارچ کے دوسرے ہفتے میں شروع کر دیا جائے گا جس کے لیے مشینری کو ملیر ہالٹ میں منتقل کیا جا رہا ہے۔
بی آر ٹی ریڈ لائن ایک 25 کلومیٹر طویل راہداری ہے جس میں روزانہ 300,000 سے زیادہ مسافر سوار ہوں گے۔ منصوبے کے مطابق اس منصوبے کے لیے 240 بسیں خریدی جائیں گی اور ان کی خریداری کا آرڈر 2023 کے آخر تک دے دیا جائے گا۔
