Lahore: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has recently announced their plan to create 12 urban forests in the city using the traditional Japanese Miyawaki method.
The Miyawaki method of forestation includes the plantation of a number of native trees in small pits. The close plantation of random trees in proximity enhances the richness of the land and makes the area richer also.
Because of this method, the trees grow faster and require no maintenance within just 3 years. This method can ensure 10 times faster plant growth and as much as 30 times denser plantation.
According to the reports, the work on 4 Miyawaki forests has already started in Lahore and they are located at Botanical Gardens Jallo, Greater Iqbal Park, Quanchi Stop, and Faisal Town Park.
