KP Wildlife deptt, GDA in conflict over Ayubia chair lift reinstallation

The Wildlife Department claimed that 60 Kanal land of the Ayubia National Park had been included in the project, which was in violation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife and Biodiversity Act 2015 and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Ordinance 2002.

The GDA on the other hand claimed that they were launching the chair lift project on the same track, where the old chair lift had been functioning since 1963.

In a letter addressed to the director-general GDA dated 26.08.2021 (copy available with The News), the Divisional Forest Officer Wildlife Division Abbottabad stated that Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Ayubia National Park reported that GDA had leased out an area of 110 Kanal land to a group for 40 years.

He claimed that the rented-out land included more than 60 Kanal land that belonged to the Ayubia National Park, which was against the rules.

The DFO said the national park was established to protect and preserve the flora and fauna and biological diversity. He said the construction of the high-rise buildings as proposed in the master plan of the project would have a negative impact on the environment.

When contacted, Sub-Divisional Wildlife Officer Ayubia National Park Sardar Nawaz told this correspondent that staff of Ayubia National Park had barred the workers of the group from construction.

محکمہ وائلڈ لائف نے دعویٰ کیا کہ ایوبیہ نیشنل پارک کی 60 کنال اراضی کو اس منصوبے میں شامل کیا گیا ہے جو کہ خیبر پختونخوا وائلڈ لائف اینڈ بائیو ڈائیورسٹی ایکٹ 2015 اور خیبر پختونخوا فاریسٹ آرڈیننس 2002 کی خلاف ورزی ہے۔

دوسری طرف جی ڈی اے نے دعویٰ کیا کہ وہ اسی ٹریک پر چیئر لفٹ پروجیکٹ شروع کر رہے ہیں ، جہاں پرانی چیئر لفٹ 1963 سے کام کر رہی تھی۔

ڈائریکٹر جنرل جی ڈی اے کو مورخہ 26.08.2021 (کاپی دی نیوز کے ساتھ دستیاب) میں ، ڈویژنل فاریسٹ آفیسر وائلڈ لائف ڈویژن ایبٹ آباد نے بتایا کہ سب ڈویژنل فاریسٹ آفیسر ایوبیہ نیشنل پارک نے رپورٹ کیا کہ جی ڈی اے نے 110 کنال اراضی لیز پر دی ہے۔

انہوں نے دعویٰ کیا کہ کرائے پر دی گئی زمین میں 60 کنال سے زائد اراضی شامل ہے جو ایوبیہ نیشنل پارک کی ہے جو کہ قوانین کے خلاف ہے۔

ڈی ایف او نے کہا کہ نیشنل پارک نباتات اور حیوانات اور حیاتیاتی تنوع کے تحفظ اور تحفظ کے لیے قائم کیا گیا تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ منصوبے کے ماسٹر پلان میں تجویز کردہ بلند و بالا عمارتوں کی تعمیر ماحول پر منفی اثرات مرتب کرے گی۔

جب سب ڈویژنل وائلڈ لائف آفیسر ایوبیہ نیشنل پارک سردار نواز سے رابطہ کیا گیا تو اس نمائندے نے بتایا کہ ایوبیہ نیشنل پارک کے عملے نے گروپ کے کارکنوں کو تعمیر سے روک دیا ہے۔
