KP To Improve Healthcare Facilities at Grassroots Level

The KP Health Department has started homework to run the underutilized primary and secondary healthcare facilities in some districts under Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

The step has been taken to provide better healthcare facilities to the people at the grassroots level and improve overall service delivery in primary and secondary healthcare facilities.

This was told at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to review the reforms initiatives undertaken in the health sector, said a handout. The meeting took stock of the impacts of the reforms introduced.

Provincial Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Principal Secretary to CM Amjad Ali Khan, Secretary Establishment Zakir Afridi, Secretary Law Abid Majeed, Secretary Health Tahir Orakzai, and other relevant officials of the Health Department attended the meeting.

The participants deliberated the matters to improve the healthcare service delivery system in the province.

The meeting decided to outsource the janitorial as well security services across all the secondary healthcare facilities and run the infections waste management system under the PPP model in the secondary healthcare facilities.

Moreover, it was also decided to run the diagnostic and pharmacy service under PPP mode on a need basis.

However, all such matters will be presented before the provincial cabinet for a final decision.

The meeting was told that some of the healthcare facilities in a few far-flung districts were already being run under PPP where service delivery had improved substantially.

In order to overcome the shortage of doctors in the healthcare centers of far-flung areas, the meeting deliberated the matters pertaining to facility-based contract hiring of doctors and made important decisions were made.

The chief minister termed the provision of quality healthcare facilities to people as one of the priority areas of his government.

کے پی کے محکمہ صحت نے پبلک پرائیویٹ پارٹنرشپ (PPP) کے تحت کچھ اضلاع میں زیر استعمال بنیادی اور ثانوی صحت کی سہولیات کو چلانے کے لیے ہوم ورک شروع کر دیا ہے۔

یہ قدم نچلی سطح پر لوگوں کو صحت کی بہتر سہولیات فراہم کرنے اور بنیادی اور ثانوی صحت کی سہولیات میں مجموعی خدمات کی فراہمی کو بہتر بنانے کے لیے اٹھایا گیا ہے۔

یہ بات وزیر اعلیٰ محمود خان کی زیر صدارت صحت کے شعبے میں کیے گئے اصلاحاتی اقدامات کا جائزہ لینے کے لیے منعقدہ اجلاس میں بتائی گئی۔ اجلاس میں متعارف کرائی گئی اصلاحات کے اثرات کا جائزہ لیا گیا۔

اجلاس میں صوبائی وزیر صحت تیمور سلیم جھگڑا، وزیراعلیٰ کے پرنسپل سیکرٹری امجد علی خان، سیکرٹری اسٹیبلشمنٹ ذاکر آفریدی، سیکرٹری قانون عابد مجید، سیکرٹری صحت طاہر اورکزئی اور محکمہ صحت کے دیگر متعلقہ حکام نے شرکت کی۔

شرکاء نے صوبے میں صحت کی دیکھ بھال کی خدمات کی فراہمی کے نظام کو بہتر بنانے کے امور پر غور کیا۔

اجلاس نے تمام ثانوی صحت کی دیکھ بھال کی سہولیات میں چوکیدار کے ساتھ ساتھ سیکیورٹی خدمات کو آؤٹ سورس کرنے اور پی پی پی ماڈل کے تحت ثانوی صحت کی دیکھ بھال کی سہولیات میں انفیکشن ویسٹ مینجمنٹ سسٹم چلانے کا فیصلہ کیا۔

مزید یہ کہ پی پی پی موڈ کے تحت تشخیصی اور فارمیسی سروس کو ضرورت کی بنیاد پر چلانے کا بھی فیصلہ کیا گیا۔

تاہم ایسے تمام معاملات کو حتمی فیصلے کے لیے صوبائی کابینہ کے سامنے پیش کیا جائے گا۔
اجلاس کو بتایا گیا کہ چند دور افتادہ اضلاع میں صحت کی سہولیات میں سے کچھ پہلے ہی پی پی پی کے تحت چلائی جا رہی ہیں جہاں خدمات کی فراہمی میں خاطر خواہ بہتری آئی ہے۔

دور دراز کے مراکز صحت میں ڈاکٹروں کی کمی پر قابو پانے کے لیے اجلاس میں ڈاکٹروں کی سہولت کی بنیاد پر کنٹریکٹ بھرتی سے متعلق امور پر غور کیا گیا اور اہم فیصلے کیے گئے۔

وزیراعلیٰ نے لوگوں کو صحت کی معیاری سہولیات کی فراہمی کو اپنی حکومت کی ترجیحات میں سے ایک قرار دیا۔
