Historical site & artefacts discovered in Ghazi Tehsil

Archaeology Department sources said here on Friday that, Residents of the village accidentally discover the site and during the excavation, they found some artifacts including Buddha’s sculpture.

According to the news sources, the site supervisor of Archeology Department Khanpur Museum, Raja Adnan, said that excavation of an earth and sand mound was underway at the Khalo village when the people found a wall of cultural value, a palm-size Buddha’s head and a small broken piece of some other sculpture.

According to the details, the local villagers informed the police which called the officials of the Archeology Department of Nikra Museum Khanpur.

According to Raja Adnan, the sculptures were shifted to the Khanpur Museum and the site was sealed, restricting external interference.

When contacted Nawazuddin, Sub-Regional Officer, Archaeology Department, Hazara, confirmed that the sculpture found from the Khalo village was of Buddha and another piece which was part of some other sculpture and a wall was from 2nd century AD.

He said the site was surveyed by the officials of the Archaeology Department and recommended it for further excavation which was likely to begin within the next couple of days.

Nawaz ud Din said the size of the Buddha’s sculpture was 4 inches in length and 2.5 inches in width. He further added that the site was expected to be one of the biggest in the Ghazi area measuring about a Kanal.

خبر رساں ذرائع کے مطابق محکمہ آثار قدیمہ خانپور میوزیم کے سائٹ سپروائزر راجہ عدنان نے بتایا کہ کھالو گاؤں میں زمین اور ریت کے ٹیلے کی کھدائی جاری تھی کہ لوگوں کو ثقافتی قدر کی ایک دیوار، کھجور کے سائز کا مہاتما بدھ کا سر ملا۔ کسی دوسرے مجسمے کا ایک چھوٹا ٹوٹا ہوا ٹکڑا۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق مقامی دیہاتیوں نے پولیس کو اطلاع دی جس پر نیکرا میوزیم خانپور کے محکمہ آثار قدیمہ کے حکام کو بلایا گیا۔
راجہ عدنان کے مطابق مجسموں کو خانپور میوزیم منتقل کیا گیا اور بیرونی مداخلت کو محدود کرتے ہوئے جگہ کو سیل کر دیا گیا۔
نوزالدین، سب ریجنل آفیسر، محکمہ آثار قدیمہ، ہزارہ سے رابطہ کرنے پر، انہوں نے تصدیق کی کہ خالو گاؤں سے ملنے والا مجسمہ بدھا کا تھا اور ایک اور ٹکڑا جو کسی دوسرے مجسمے اور دیوار کا حصہ تھا، دوسری صدی عیسوی کا تھا۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ محکمہ آثار قدیمہ کے حکام نے اس جگہ کا سروے کیا تھا اور اسے مزید کھدائی کے لیے سفارش کی تھی جو اگلے دو دنوں میں شروع ہونے کا امکان ہے۔
نواز الدین نے بتایا کہ بدھ کے مجسمے کی لمبائی 4 انچ اور چوڑائی 2.5 انچ تھی۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ توقع کی جا رہی تھی کہ یہ سائٹ غازی کے علاقے کی سب سے بڑی جگہ میں سے ایک ہوگی جس کی پیمائش تقریباً ایک کنال ہے۔
