Gwadar Port Set for Transit Trade
Islamabad: According to news sources, Senate’s Standing Committee’s sub-committee on Maritime Affairs was informed on Tuesday that the Gwadar Port is all prepared for transit trade and the first ship is expected to reach next week.
The standing committee was also briefed about the transit trade and the transshipment. Furthermore, they also informed the Senate standing committee that the Afghan Trade Transit (ATT) module requires some adjustments and initial testing. After these procedures, it will be ready for application. The first ATT shipment is expected to arrive on October 8 on the Gwadar Port.
Gwadar Port is expected to offer tough competition to Dubai and Singapore because it comes with no cargo demurrage fees as well as storage facilities for three months.
