Govt. to promote tourism by building tourism expressway from Rawalpindi to Murree

The government, under its efforts to promote tourism in the region, was going to start construction work of Tourism Expressway and the project would be completed in two years. 

According to Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Tariq Mehmood Murtaza, surveys and studies of the project had been completed. The total cost of the project had been estimated as Rs4.5 billion and the first tranche of Rs1.5 billion had been released, he informed. 

The road would be an alternative route from Rawalpindi to Murree for tourists and to reach new tourist destinations that would pass through four tehsils of Rawalpindi district.

123 kilometers long-existing 12 to 13 feet wide road would be reconstructed and widened further up to 24 feet under the Tourism Highway project. 

It’s a public sector development project and approved by the PM Imran Khan to promote tourism in the region and the project to be executed by Communication and Works Department, Punjab, he added. 

He informed that the federal government had released Rs1.5 billion for the construction of a 123km long tourism expressway from Rawat Pandori Chowk to the four hilly tehsils of Rawalpindi – Kahuta, Kotli Sattian, Kalar Syedan, and Murree. 

He said the construction work of the project would be started soon and the project would be completed in two years. He said the expressway would be 24 feet wide and would pass through the dense forest of Panjar.

حکومت ، اس خطے میں سیاحت کو فروغ دینے کی کوششوں کے تحت ، سیاحت ایکسپریس وے کی تعمیر کا کام شروع کرنے جا رہی ہے اور یہ منصوبہ دو سال میں مکمل ہو جائے گا۔

چیئرمین راولپنڈی ڈویلپمنٹ اتھارٹی (آر ڈی اے) طارق محمود مرتضیٰ کے مطابق منصوبے کا سروے اور مطالعہ مکمل ہو چکا ہے۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ منصوبے کی کل لاگت کا تخمینہ 4.5 ارب روپے لگایا گیا تھا اور 1.5 ارب روپے کی پہلی قسط جاری کی گئی تھی۔

یہ سڑک سیاحوں کے لیے راولپنڈی سے مری اور نئے سیاحتی مقامات تک پہنچنے کے لیے ایک متبادل راستہ ہوگی جو ضلع راولپنڈی کی چار تحصیلوں سے گزرے گی۔

123 کلو میٹر طویل 12 سے 13 فٹ چوڑی سڑک کو دوبارہ تعمیر کیا جائے گا اور مزید 24 فٹ تک چوڑا کیا جائے گا۔

انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ یہ ایک عوامی شعبے کا ترقیاتی منصوبہ ہے اور وزیراعظم عمران خان نے اس خطے میں سیاحت کو فروغ دینے کے لیے منظوری دی ہے اور اس منصوبے کو پنجاب کے محکمہ مواصلات اور تعمیرات کے ذریعے انجام دیا جائے گا۔

انہوں نے بتایا کہ وفاقی حکومت نے روات پنڈوری چوک سے راولپنڈی کی چار پہاڑی تحصیلوں کہوٹہ ، کوٹلی ستیاں ، کلار سیداں اور مری تک 123 کلومیٹر طویل سیاحتی ایکسپریس وے کی تعمیر کے لیے 1.5 ارب روپے جاری کیے ہیں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ منصوبے کا تعمیراتی کام جلد شروع کیا جائے گا اور یہ منصوبہ دو سال میں مکمل ہو جائے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ایکسپریس وے 24 فٹ چوڑا ہوگا اور پنجر کے گھنے جنگل سے گزرے گا۔
