Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday said that the government is keen to complete the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and it is one of their top priorities.
He said this while chairing a meeting regarding regional security and Pakistan’s priorities. He also said that peace and stability in Afghanistan are of paramount importance for the region. He said that Pakistan has been playing his reconciliatory role in the Afghan peace process with utmost sincerity under common obligation and it will continue to do so in the future as well.
A detailed discussion about coronavirus pandemic and challenges confronting the region as a result of the pandemic also took place. The foreign minister emphasized ensuring complete preparation to face new possible challenges in the wake of the regional and international situations due to Covid-19. He also stressed upon promoting economic diplomacy to achieve economic goals.
The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Affairs Moeed Yousaf and other senior officers.
