Committee formed in Karachi to raze illegal constructions

Karachi Commissioner Navaid Ahmed Shaikh has constituted a committee for the demolition of illegal constructions across the city. A meeting with the director-general of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and all deputy commissioners was held at the commissioner’s office.

The Sindh chief secretary constituted a three-member committee comprising the Karachi commissioner, the SBCA director-general, and the additional inspector general of police.

Seven demolition committees have been constituted at the district level against illegal constructions, and sub-committees under the supervision of the assistant commissioners. The commissioner directed the sub-committees to perform their duties under the SBCA 1979 law.

According to a statement issued by the commissioner’s office, the Sindh government had taken notice of the illegal constructions in the city. The provincial government had given the task to the city administration to assist the SBCA in acting against illegal buildings and stop such constructions in the future. The commissioner directed the officials to complete the legal work before knocking down the illegal constructions.

It was decided that all the deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners would help the Sindh police and SBCA officials in this regard.

کراچی: کمشنر کراچی نے ایک کمیٹی بنائی ہے جو شہر بھر میں غیر قانونی تعمیرات کو توڑ دے گی- کمشنر کراچی نوید احمد شیخ نے شہر بھر میں غیر قانونی تعمیرات کے انہدام کے لیے ایک کمیٹی تشکیل دی ہے۔ کمشنر آفس میں سندھ بلڈنگ کنٹرول اتھارٹی (ایس بی سی اے) کے ڈائریکٹر جنرل اور تمام ڈپٹی کمشنرز کے ساتھ میٹنگ ہوئی۔ چیف سیکریٹری سند�� نے کمشنر کراچی ، ایس بی سی اے کے ڈائریکٹر جنرل اور ایڈیشنل انسپکٹر جنرل آف پولیس پر مشتمل تین رکنی کمیٹی تشکیل دی۔ غیر قانونی تعمیرات کے خلاف ضلعی سطح پر سات مسمار کمیٹیاں تشکیل دی گئی ہیں اور اسسٹنٹ کمشنرز کی نگرانی میں سب کمیٹیاں تشکیل دی گئی ہیں۔ کمشنر نے ذیلی کمیٹیوں کو ایس بی سی اے 1979 قانون کے تحت اپنے فرائض انجام دینے کی ہدایت کی۔ کمشنر آفس سے جاری بیان کے مطابق سندھ حکومت نے شہر میں غیر قانونی تعمیرات کا نوٹس لیا تھا۔ صوبائی حکومت نے سٹی انتظامیہ کو ٹاسک دیا تھا کہ وہ غیر قانونی عمارتوں کے خلاف کارروائی میں ایس بی سی اے کی مدد کرے اور مستقبل میں ایسی تعمیرات کو روکے۔ کمشنر نے عہدیداروں کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ غیر قانونی تعمیرات کو ختم کرنے سے پہلے قانونی کام مکمل کریں۔ یہ فیصلہ کیا گیا کہ تمام ڈپٹی کمشنر اور اسسٹنٹ کمشنر اس سلسلے میں سندھ پولیس اور ایس بی سی اے حکام کی مدد کریں گے۔
