Arrangements made to launch work on Nullah Lai, Pindi Ring Road projects

According to news reports, the official, who previously served as the chief engineer of the Lahore Development Authority, has been given a particular job to remove all barriers in the way of resuming essential projects that have been stalled for years. Mr. Habibul Haq Randhawa (BS-19), the C&W director, was transferred to the RDA as the head engineer. With immediate effect, he has also been requested to take over the RDA chief engineer position.

The officials have been appointed for a three-year term, according to the notification.

"Mr. Habibul Haq Randhawa (BS-19), currently serving as director (A&W-II), Punjab Highways Department (Central Zone), is now transferred with immediate effect and assigned as Chief Engineer (BS-20) in RDA at his own salary and scale on a three-year deputation basis," According to the notification.

It's worth noting that the Nullah Lai project costs Rs24 billion, which covers land purchase, resettlement, and relocation of the affected people. The project includes a 16.5-kilometer dual carriageway/expressway along the banks of the Lai drain, lining and channelization of the drain, construction of bridges and culverts along the drain to connect several localities with the expressway, construction of commercial centers, and development of green areas along with the Nullah Lai, which was halted due to various technical, administrative, and funding issues. In addition, the Punjab government has set out Rs55 billion for the project in its 2021-22 annual development plan. After starting at Ammar Chowk, the expressway would conclude at Pindora.
