Rawalpindi: The Punjab Government has allocated a meager amount of money in its next year’s fiscal budget for the three road infrastructure projects in Rawalpindi, reported a news source.
The projects, which have been subjected to repeated delays during the last several years have been allocated Rs.120 million in the next year’s fiscal budget. The Rawalpindi expressway and flood channel project has been subjected to an extensive delay of 17 years, while the Leh Expressway which has also been delayed multiple times now costs Rs.100 billion.
The Leh Expressway was approved during the last government’s regime, however, with the change of government, the progress of the project has been halted. The expressway is meant to connect Ammar Chowk to New Kataria.

پچھلے کئی سالوں کے دوران بار بار تاخیر کا شکار ہونے والے منصوبوں کے لیے اگلے سال کے مالیاتی بجٹ میں 120 ملین روپے مختص کیے گئے ہیں۔ راولپنڈی ایکسپریس وے اور فلڈ چینل پراجیکٹ 17 سال سے بڑے پیمانے پر تاخیر کا شکار ہے جبکہ لیہہ ایکسپریس وے جو متعدد بار تاخیر کا شکار ہو چکا ہے اس کی لاگت 100 ارب روپے ہے۔
لیہہ ایکسپریس وے کی منظوری گزشتہ حکومت کے دور میں ہوئی تھی تاہم حکومت کی تبدیلی کے ساتھ ہی اس پراجیکٹ کی پیش رفت رک گئی ہے۔ ایکسپریس وے کا مقصد عمار چوک کو نیو کٹاریا سے جوڑنا ہے۔
