Notices for Property Tax Sent to 250,000 Building Owners in Gujranwala

The Excise Department in this regard has also assigned the tax collection task to the respective Excise and the Taxation Officers of the six division in the following: Hafizabad, Gujranwala Division, Narowal, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot and Gujrat.

As per the claim of the sources, the Excise and Taxation Department will be completing the process to dispatch the notices by September 10. Once all the notices are sent to the respective owners, the department will be initiating the process of collecting the overdue property tax by the default owners.

To promote the payment for the property taxes as well as encouraging the taxpayers, the Excise Department has also offered a discount of 5% to all the people who are clearing their dues before the last date i.e. September 30. Moreover, the taxpayers who are failing to clear the property tax dues, not before the last date are going to be penalized. In addition to this, the Excise and Taxation Department will also be starting to seal the buildings of the owners who did not pay the property tax within the mentioned time frame.

As per a news source, the Excise and Taxation Department of Gujranwala have firmly decided to seal the properties of 7,000 property tax defaulters as these owners have already received their final notices and haven’t paid their property taxes yet. The amount of these defaulters runs into tens of millions of Pakistani rupees. The buildings will be sealed in Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, and Gujranwala.
