Freight train launched to link Istanbul with Tehran, Islamabad

According to the news sources, Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati, along with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, inaugurated the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI) freight train at Margalla railway station. During the inauguration event the ambassadors of Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan were also present on the occasion.

The freight train service will play a vital role in improving the economies and lives of citizens of ECO member states by maximizing economic efficiency and reducing the cost of doing business.

While talking to the media, Railways Minister Swati highlighted the importance of the ITI freight train and said this service would open doors for business and connectivity in the region. “The passenger train service will also start soon,” he said, adding: “We have opened our trade routes and it is a great opportunity for importers and exporters.”

Terming the ITI freight train an important milestone in Pakistan’s history, the minister said that business-to-business contact among the business community would be further enhanced through this train. He said the service would further strengthen relations between the three countries.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce Razak Dawood said regional connectivity was one of the very important pillars of Pakistan’s strategic trade policy framework and it was heartening to witness the resumption of operations of the ITI freight train.

Foreign Minister Qureshi appreciated the resumption of the ITI freight train and said the service would play an important role in regional connectivity and promoting economic activity in the region.

Turkish Ambassador Mustafa Yurdakul expressed the hope that the train service would not stop at Istanbul only but go all the way to Europe which would benefit all regional countries as the economies bounced back in the post-Covid era.

نیوز ذرائع کے مطابق وزیر ریلوے اعظم خان سواتی نے وزیر خارجہ شاہ محمود قریشی اور وزیر اعظم کے مشیر برائے تجارت عبدالرزاق داؤد کے ہمراہ مارگلہ ریلوے اسٹیشن پر اسلام آباد-تہران-استنبول (آئی ٹی آئی) مال بردار ٹرین کا افتتاح کیا۔ افتتاحی تقریب میں ترکی، ایران، قازقستان اور ازبکستان کے سفیر بھی موجود تھے۔
مال بردار ٹرین سروس اقتصادی کارکردگی کو زیادہ سے زیادہ بڑھا کر اور کاروبار کرنے کی لاگت کو کم کر کے (ای سی او) رکن ممالک کے شہریوں کی معیشتوں اور زندگیوں کو بہتر بنانے میں اہم کردار ادا کرے گی۔
میڈیا سے بات کرتے ہوئے وزیر ریلوے سواتی نے آئی ٹی آئی فریٹ ٹرین کی اہمیت پر روشنی ڈالی اور کہا کہ یہ سروس خطے میں کاروبار اور رابطے کے دروازے کھول دے گی۔ انہوں نے کہا، "مسافر ٹرین سروس بھی جلد شروع ہو جائے گی،" انہوں نے مزید کہا: "ہم نے اپنے تجارتی راستے کھول دیے ہیں اور یہ درآمد کنندگان اور برآمد کنندگان کے لیے ایک بہترین موقع ہے۔"
آئی ٹی آئی فریٹ ٹرین کو پاکستان کی تاریخ میں ایک اہم سنگ میل قرار دیتے ہوئے وزیر نے کہا کہ اس ٹرین کے ذریعے تاجر برادری کے درمیان بزنس ٹو بزنس رابطہ مزید بڑھے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ سروس تینوں ممالک کے درمیان تعلقات کو مزید مضبوط کرے گی۔
وزیر اعظم کے مشیر برائے تجارت رزاق داؤد نے کہا کہ علاقائی روابط پاکستان کی سٹریٹجک تجارتی پالیسی کے فریم ورک کے بہت اہم ستونوں میں سے ایک ہے اور (ای ٹی ای) مال بردار ٹرین کے آپریشن کی بحالی کا مشاہدہ کرنا خوش آئند ہے۔
وزیر خارجہ قریشی نے (ای ٹی ای) مال بردار ٹرین کے دوبارہ شروع ہونے کو سراہا اور کہا کہ یہ سروس علاقائی رابطوں اور خطے میں اقتصادی سرگرمیوں کو فروغ دینے میں اہم کردار ادا کرے گی۔
ترکی کے سفیر مصطفی یرداکول نے اس امید کا اظہار کیا کہ ٹرین سروس صرف استنبول تک نہیں رکے گی بلکہ پورے یورپ تک جائے گی جس سے تمام علاقائی ممالک کو فائدہ پہنچے گا کیونکہ کووڈ کے بعد کے دور میں معیشتوں نے اچھال دیا تھا۔
