CDA to bulldoze encroachments in E-11 Islamabad

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Ali Nawaz Awan has said that all the encroachments on and around nullas of E-11 will be bulldozed to avoid any flood-like situation or any mishap in the future.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Ali Nawaz Awan said that all the three committees constituted for the inquiry of the E-11 incident in which a mother and her child died due to urban flooding, have filed their reports.

He said that in the light of reports of inquiry committee, then Member Planning and officials working with him who were involved in reducing the width of nullah which resulted in a flash flood in a street of a private housing society in sector E-11 were being charge-sheeted.

He said it was found that the nullah of E-11 encroached and it was squeezed to 18 feet from 70 feet with approval of the planning wing in 2012. The management of the housing society would be responsible for making any compensation to the affected people which comes in the way of the nullah.

Ali Nawaz said it has also been decided to bring a new regulatory authority that will regulate all the concerned institutions like CDA, Islamabad administration, and Islamabad Police in order to avoid any such incidents.

He said that reports of three committees headed by senior CDA official, Deputy Commissioner, and Police official was submitted within three weeks of the incident.

“Islamabad is our city and we have to make it an example for other cities,” he said.

وزیر اعظم کے معاون خصوصی (ایس اے پی ایم) علی نواز اعوان نے کہا ہے کہ ای 11 کے نالوں اور اس کے آس پاس تمام تجاوزات کو بلڈوز کیا جائے گا تاکہ مستقبل میں سیلاب جیسی صورتحال یا کسی حادثے سے بچا جا سکے۔

منگل کو یہاں ایک پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے علی نواز اعوان نے کہا کہ ای 11 کے واقعے کی انکوائری کے لیے بنائی گئی تینوں کمیٹیاں جن میں ایک ماں اور اس کا بچہ شہری سیلاب کی وجہ سے مر گیا تھا ، نے اپنی رپورٹس درج کرائی ہیں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ انکوائری کمیٹی کی رپورٹوں کی روشنی میں ، پھر ممبر پلاننگ اور اس کے ساتھ کام کرنے والے اہلکار جو نالہ کی چوڑائی کو کم کرنے میں ملوث تھے جس کے نتیجے میں سیکٹر E-11 میں ایک پرائیویٹ ہاؤسنگ سوسائٹی کی گلی میں سیلاب آیا۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ پتہ چلا ہے کہ ای 11 کے نالے پر تجاوز کیا گیا تھا اور اسے 2012 میں پلاننگ ونگ کی منظوری سے 70 فٹ سے 18 فٹ تک نچوڑا گیا تھا۔

علی نواز نے کہا کہ ایک نیا ریگولیٹری اتھارٹی لانے کا بھی فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے جو کہ تمام متعلقہ اداروں جیسے سی ڈی اے ، اسلام آباد انتظامیہ اور اسلام آباد پولیس کو ریگولیٹ کرے گا تاکہ ایسے واقعات سے بچا جا سکے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ سی ڈی اے کے سینئر عہدیدار ، ڈپٹی کمشنر اور پولیس اہلکار کی سربراہی میں تین کمیٹیوں کی رپورٹیں واقعے کے تین ہفتوں کے اندر پیش کی گئیں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ اسلام آباد ہمارا شہر ہے اور ہمیں اسے دوسرے شہروں کے لیے مثال بنانا ہوگا۔
